Arab Stock Trading Sees 28.8% July Surge Despite Lower Transaction Value

by admin477351

In July, Arab stock markets saw a notable surge in trading activity, with the volume of shares traded jumping by 28.82% compared to June, even as the overall transaction value witnessed a decline. The total trading volume for the month reached 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion in the previous month, primarily fueled by increased activity on the Iraq Stock Exchange and Egypt’s market.

Despite this uptick in traded volumes, the total value of transactions across these markets fell by 16.82%, amounting to $90.24 billion in July, down from $108.48 billion in June. This decline in transaction value was observed in several key markets, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait, suggesting a complex trading landscape.

Market performance across the region presented a mixed picture. Egypt’s EGX30 index stood out with a robust performance, rising 5.85% over the month. Several other regional exchanges also posted gains, although the overall market sentiment remained varied.

Meanwhile, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively stable, experiencing a slight increase of 0.06% to approximately $4.31 trillion. This stability in market capitalization highlights the resilience of the region’s stock markets amid fluctuating transaction values and mixed market performances.

These figures underscore a dynamic trading environment in Arab markets, characterized by heightened trading activity but tempered by a decrease in transaction values and varied performances among major exchanges in the region.
