Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has unveiled an ambitious pipeline of projects valued at Dh2.1 trillion, designed to propel the emirate’s economic growth and cement its status as a global business and investment nexus. Announced at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the initiative spans sectors such as real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure.
A significant portion of the investment, Dh1.1 trillion, is earmarked for real estate development through 2030. This includes the construction of approximately 350,000 residential units to meet the demands of Dubai’s burgeoning population. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the strategy of building a “city within a city,” with further projects anticipated in the future.
In the aviation sector, Al Maktoum International Airport is set to benefit from Dh128 billion in investments, aiming to handle up to 260 million passengers annually. Additional funding of Dh328 billion is allocated for the expansion of Emirates and flydubai fleets, complemented by Dh18.7 billion for a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.
The infrastructure segment includes Dh100 billion for road enhancements and the development of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. Furthermore, Dh151 billion will be directed towards expanding electricity and water networks, while Dh80 billion is designated for the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.
Additionally, Dubai intends to bolster its financial services sector with a Dh100 billion investment in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre. This move is aimed at reinforcing the emirate’s international business infrastructure.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of forward-looking investments, underscoring long-term planning and leadership as critical to sustaining growth. The extensive project pipeline aligns with Dubai’s strategic plan to enhance housing, transport connectivity, aviation capacity, and essential services, ultimately supporting economic diversification and attracting international investment.
