South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Executive Affairs Authority, on Friday to discuss enhancing the partnership between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting took place at Cheong Wa Dae, the presidential office in Seoul.
During the talks, President Lee underscored the importance of a long-term partnership, building on agreements reached during his visit to the UAE in November last year. He expressed gratitude for the UAE’s prioritization of crude oil supplies to South Korea in March. The discussions also highlighted opportunities for expanded collaboration in sectors such as defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and cultural exchange.
Al Mubarak, conveying greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasized the strong bilateral relationship that extends beyond traditional energy and infrastructure ties. He noted that cooperation now includes investments in space, healthcare, and education.
President Lee advocated for more robust communication channels between officials from both nations to translate their cooperation into tangible projects, reinforcing coordination built on mutual trust. The meeting comes amid expectations of further high-level engagements, with the possibility of a summit in South Korea next month.
