Motorists in the United Arab Emirates may face higher petrol and diesel prices in November, driven by rising global crude oil prices and elevated shipping costs. As Brent crude prices exceed $110 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate approaches $100, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and concerns over oil transportation continue to exert pressure on international energy markets.
The potential for a price increase comes after a significant rise in UAE fuel prices in October, where petrol rates surged nearly 16% compared to September. The UAE operates a monthly fuel pricing system that reflects international market conditions, meaning continued increases in crude oil prices could influence the next adjustment.
In September, the price for Super 98 petrol was Dh3.80 per litre, Special 95 was Dh3.69, and E-Plus 91 stood at Dh3.61, while diesel cost Dh4.30 per litre. These rates had already climbed significantly from February, when Super 98 was priced at Dh2.59, Special 95 at Dh2.48, E-Plus 91 at Dh2.40, and diesel at Dh2.72 per litre.
Concerns are mounting that motorists could face additional fuel expenses in the coming month. However, the official fuel prices for November will depend on market conditions evaluated during the monthly pricing review. The UAE is expected to announce November’s fuel rates towards the end of October. Until then, it remains uncertain whether petrol prices will stay above Dh4 per litre or rise further.
