Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has enacted significant traffic diversions around Al Safa and City Walk as part of an ongoing road development initiative. The changes, affecting both sides of Al Satwa Street and Al Multaqa Street, are designed to maintain traffic flow and enhance access in the area during construction.
The diversions are integral to the Al Safa Street development project, which aims to improve road connectivity and alleviate congestion. These measures are part of a broader infrastructure effort in Dubai, encompassing a substantial Dh2 billion project focused on enhancing transport links across the emirate.
The comprehensive development, known as the Latifa bint Hamdan corridor project, spans 12 kilometers. It is set to link major roads, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and Emirates Road. The updated corridor is projected to accommodate more than 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, the project includes the construction of seven bridges covering 2.3 kilometers and eight tunnels spanning 900 meters. These enhancements are expected to significantly bolster traffic management and connectivity throughout Dubai, facilitating smoother commutes across the city.
