UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has underscored the necessity of combating extremism as a key step in the fight against terrorism to ensure regional security. His comments came in the wake of a tragic shooting at Hamoud Church in Jordan’s Karak Governorate, which resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.
In a statement released on his official X account, Sheikh Abdullah emphasized that addressing extremist ideologies must go hand in hand with counterterrorism efforts. He argued that without tackling the root causes of extremism, efforts to combat terrorism would be insufficient.
The UAE has strongly condemned the attack in Jordan, reiterating its firm stance against all forms of terrorism and extremism that pose a threat to public safety and destabilize the region. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its solidarity with Jordan and called for enhanced cooperation to prevent extremist violence and safeguard communities.
