The United Arab Emirates has expressed support for the United States’ call for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce in Sudan, as well as efforts to achieve a political resolution to the ongoing conflict. UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan emphasized the nation’s backing of international initiatives aimed at ending the fighting and establishing a political process that leads to a civilian government.
Sheikh Shakhboot reiterated the importance of protecting civilians and addressing the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan. He highlighted the need for hostilities to cease and for comprehensive political dialogue to take place. In addition, the UAE has advocated for the expansion of the existing United Nations arms embargo to cover Sudan’s entire territory, suggesting that such a measure could help reduce the flow of weapons and enhance civilian protection.
The UAE’s commitment to working with international partners to support a political solution and alleviate the suffering caused by the conflict was also underscored. This reflects the UAE’s ongoing engagement in regional stability and its proactive stance in addressing humanitarian crises.
