As Thailand looks to bolster its international aviation network, the nation has formed strategic alliances with Vietnam Airlines and flydubai while also planning enhancements to its regional airport infrastructure. These efforts are designed to improve connectivity and support the country’s flourishing tourism industry.

Vietnam Airlines recently inaugurated a new route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Phuket on July 2. This service, featuring four weekly flights and an annual capacity of approximately 39,500 seats, aims to cater to the increasing travel demand from Vietnam. In the first half of the year alone, over 300,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Thailand, highlighting the growing interest in travel between the two nations.

In a parallel development, flydubai launched daily flights from Dubai to Bangkok starting July 1. Reflecting the strong ties between the UAE and Thailand, the airline plans to enhance this service to twice daily starting from September 15, further strengthening the connectivity between these destinations.

On the domestic front, Thailand is set to introduce the Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) at select regional airports. This initiative aims to enhance air traffic management and operational efficiency, thereby improving access to secondary cities. The AFIS system is slated to be implemented first at Phrae and Phetchabun airports by 2028, with potential expansion to other regional airports thereafter.

These combined efforts underscore Thailand’s commitment to enhancing its aviation sector, providing better service to travelers, and supporting the country’s tourism and economic growth by improving both international and domestic air connectivity.
